I had a cheap disposable camera sitting in a cupboard for months, unsure of what to use it for. Then it hit me: a really bad camera ought to capture a really beautiful place. But then something didn’t feel right — instead of trying to replicate Iceland’s beauty, as so many other artists have done before, why not just show what it actually looks like?
So I took my bad camera to Iceland and shot each of the 27 frames at 27 minutes past every hour for 27 hours — harbour, hotel bed, Hagavagninn, or Hallgrímskirkja — no matter what was in front of me. It became an act of truth and objectivity, not an exercise in aesthetics.
